Here we go again...
If the transmission is really "Notchy" and/or shifts hard, it's probably the oil you are using.
I don't want to start the oil debate again, but just try an oil change with Honda oil, see if it makes a difference. If not it's only a couple of dollars different than cheap oil so you're not out very much cash.
My '89 shifts very smoothly, with only the downshift to first while rolling having any clunkiness to it.
