Anybody ever installed a KuryAkyn hitchlike the one pictured? The instructions say to loosen the saddlebags per the manual. My question is can the release cables remain hooked up? Any other tips anyone has encountered would be appreciated as well. TIA

This might depend on the next step after you loosen the bags, the clips are not a big deal to get off the rods & remove the plastic retainer from the back of the box will give you more space & less chance of doing any damage. The clips remove from the cable by rotating the clip till the little slot lines up with the cable & it just slips off the end. check the instructions to see how far you have to move the bags first. It might only be to access holes under the boxes. :?

You won't need to remove the cables. Pull the side panels and remove the 4 bolts inside each saddlebag to lossen them up. It helps if you also remove the painted corner piece at the lower rear of each saddlebag. You can leave the panel under the trunk in place, there will be enough wiggle room.
