Any advice on repairing a leaky final drive unit?

Mine has a slow leak between the final drive and the wheel.

Thanks in advance.

I know Honda say the final drive is sealed and can't be repaired, but its easy to strip and replace parts. The outer seal on the wheel side is a 47mm outer diameter/ 35mm inner diameter and the part number is 91264-463-005.

Thanks Alan,

I am going to call Honda and ask about new seals.

HOnda has the seals, and they are fairly cheap. Under $10 US.

I want to talk to an indpendent mechanic first though.

I don't see why I can't just replace the seals in this thing. Nothing is wrong except for the slow leak.

Sounds like you just need a new seal. Easy enough task. No harm in having the bearings checked out while you are in there and maybe replacing the other 2 seals. BTW, if you go to an independent bearing & seal supplier I bet you will pay about half the Hondaprice (at most) for your seals.
