The Aspencade is missing a lot of the SE features.
Lighted handlebar controls. Adjustable rear floorboards. Cornering lights/(driving lights after 98) and two tone paint on certain colors. Also the factory CB for the SE was free after 97 I believe and not an option
The rear spoiler has always been an SE item but the lighted spoiler/brake came around 97-98
For those that preferred the Aspencade over the SE missed a lot of features. I believe the factory tool kit was different.
The vent in the window came with the SE as well.

For better or worse my Aspencade hadsome of the SE features, CB, cornering lights, rear speakers, side marker lights, and a rear spoiler. I'd like to get rid of the spoiler, the smooth clean look without it appeals to me, but I'd have to fill the four screw holes and repaint so that's going to have to wait awhile.

I have the SE model but I do know a guy in NEw Castle IN that has the 99ASP and it looks just as good and he likes the looks without the spoiler too. I enjoy the looks of the lighted controls on the bars but many dont care one way or another.
I almost bought a 98 Black Aspencade from Corinth MS at Lake Hills, but I didnt act fast enough, but I would have been pleased just the same.
I would keep an eye out with the dismantlers that add trike kits and maybe you could replace the whole lid and not have to fill any holes at all.

Just took my 97 SE handle bar controls apart. Left side only the radio and cb controls are lit, the high beam, horn, 4way flasher are not. the right side all the cruise control buttons are lit the starter button is not. Hope this helps.

Dang! haven't had a chance to get mine apart again but that is exactly what mine seem to have.
I was starting to think that my shade tree mechanical prowess had failed because now I have something really nice to work on that matters if I screw it up! :shock:
This week I'll get back ion there and find out and report back.
Sounds like the aspencaders got ripped off!

When you get down to it, how many people have to look at the handlebar before operating a control? I think the lighted grips are kind of a gimmick, a cute one, but a gimmick. Personally I've always thought Honda owned Stanley the maker of light bulbs.

But buying one used many years later, they seem to have help a little higher resale price which would be normal when it cost more in the beginning.
