THE STATE JOURNAL-REGISTER Posted Mar 13, 2009 @ 12:36 AM The “Circuit Rider,” a Harley-Davidson motorcycle designed in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday, is on display in the Visitor Center at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site near Petersburg at least through the end of March. It can be viewed free of charge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
The “Circuit Rider” features copper plated wheels with Lincoln penny designs and matching plating on numerous small metal parts. The gas tank, rear fender, and battery covers feature airbrushed Lincoln portraits and depictions of Lincoln sites. The air cleaner is shaped like Lincoln’s stovepipe hat, and the exhaust pipes look like wooden rails of the type Lincoln used to split, with an axe forming the shifter. And the Illinois license plate reads “ABE200.”
Richard Levi, president and CEO of Levi, Ray & Shoup Inc. of Springfield, owns the motorcycle, and Kim Shirley, who owns Kim’s Auto Body Inc. of Springfield, built it.

The tribute is exceptional, but using a harley doing it, I not sure how to take that.

Yeah, still around.

I got the bike out last week and ran it to town for gas. Ran good. Felt good. Then I rode to to our GWWRA meeting in 20 deg weather with a 20mph crosswind. Either all the others were too wimpy to ride or I was too crazy...

Must've been the full moon.

You ever get your fairing and stuff home?

Yeah, the fairing is on the 81, and now a neighboring Cop is real happy!! He bought the bike from me about 2 months ago. Got the 82 Aspy going good, and a new member Streethawk bought it, and I bought Snorebaby's 85 LTD....and LOVING IT!!:action:

I like that copper coloring on the rims and forks.
