On a few different occasions, my goldwing looses power going down the road and on a couple of those occasions it completely died and I had to pull over. After 10 to 20 minutes it would start back up and run fine. A friend told me to check the gas cap and even replace it. Could this be the cause or could it be something more serious. Dont want to get stranded somewhere. Thanks for your input

The simplest and cheapest thing I would check/replace would be the fuel filter. The more expensive thing could be the fuel pump working erratically.

When you say it "Looses power" do all the electrics shut down? Or is it just the engine shutting down?

If it is your engine losing power, some common causes are (in no particular order)
- bad gas cap causing vapor lock
- stopped up fuel filter
- weak fuel pump
- bad vacuum fuel shutoff
- bad gas/water in gas

Does it do it more often when the gas level is low or right after fill up? If after fill up, was the fill up at the same station each time?
