This morning Kathy reminded me to go out and put up the flag. There are too many National Holidays where we just forget and it doesn't happen. So I jumped up, pulled it out of the garage. As I was up on the two step, an American Bald Eagle flew over head. Now there isn't much that makes this old man get tingles all over, but this did it. The raptor was gliding to the north. These birds will go from rising air to rising air. You can see them circling in the up drafts, when they get enough altitude they can glide for miles. there is nothing like the sight of them going across the sky. It made me stop for a moment and think about those who gave their most so we can be free. Hope you take a moment and think about this. Sorry, I couldn't get the eagle in the background, but here is Old Glory against the clear blue sky.

Flag flies on my house 24/7 year round. Very thankful for the solders who gave their life so I can enjoy the freedom I have. I've lost two brothers, not to combat, but to mesothelioma contracted while serving to protect this country.

Mine has been flying 24/7 since July 1974 when I retired. Change it every few months and the lights regularly. It only comes down for hurricanes. M y NAVY anchor is also under the lights.
