Mice...

Went to go for a ride and found I had no radio display. Turns out the evil little Mice had gotten in my fairing again and chewed the wires. Second time the little monsters have done it.. Wonder if they make a Mouse Alert that works as well as the Deer Alerts;) They got 4 wires in the radio harness, and 2 wires to the voltmeter. Guess it's time for the soldering iron once again...

Sounds like you need to put some decon around the wing.

I'd invest in some mouse traps.

put a few mothballs in a cloth bag and put inside your fairing , mice dont like them either.

I was thinking about doing that. Wasn't sure it would help. If nothing else they probably smell better than the mice..:)

Ah, a subject that I know well!

My first Aspencade had so much hair, grass, crap and pee from mice that the fairing was totally filled. The aluminum of the electronics were dissolved.

Anyway, I put Bounce fabric softener sheets in the fairings now and apparently, the mice don't like it much. No problems.

From what I understand - the fabric softener makes thewee bastardsso fluffy, April fresh, and dead sexy - they are out bumpin' tummies, instead of destroying motorcycles. . . . . . . .

. . of course . . . . there is a chance that I made that up. :)

Ya, the little Boogers get in there and make themselves right at home, don't they.

I didn't have any problems with mice, but during a 2 1/2 week inactive periond the end of last November, I had another type of Critter visit my bike. I discovered that they 'violated' my bike this spring, when I was performing some routine maintenance! Guess I'll try putting some Bounce in there and see if that helps to keep them out.

I hope the little Booger starved over the winter! :D

Same thing happened on my 85 1200. Little buggers got a charge out of my radio power wires and had built a softball size nest in the fairing. Needed my huge shop vac to clean that up.

And to add to this,

Rainy day cure for dog odor: Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.

Glad to know I am not the only one with this problem. I have two words: glue trap. That way they are caught and disposed of before they do damage to your bike or get in there and die in the fairing from the poison.:p

I live in horse country, that brings lots of mice and rats. The little guys got into my motor home come 3 years ago and ate all the rubber vacuum lines, really a bummer. I learned from another oldtimer, that if you get a light (the extension type with the light on the end) and hang it where it shines at the point you don't want them, they stay away. Have in my motor home ever sense. They are nocturnal. :cooldevil:
