I want to fit a mike mute switch in the box on the left hand side of the handle bars, that contains the mute and search buttons (1993 GL1500SE). Is this possible ( i.e. is there enough room) and if so how do I get to the inside of the box please ?

There's a screw that comes up from below that holds the boxes to the mount. I think you'll have to take the whole switch assembly off the handlebar, there are three screws that hold that on from underneath. You may need to remove the handlebar cover to get enough slack to work on the switch box.

I've seen inside those switch boxes. There should be room enough for a micro switch at least.
