Never done a poll before , so thought I'd try it. Which runs along the lines of these two products, I haven't used before, so thought I'd try it. Which brings us to the point at hand for a poll as to which YOU think is the better?

Put some "liquidplumber" in it ?!:baffled::goofygrin:

By the way you can put the whole can (Sea Foam)in a full tank of gas, i have and it didn't hurt it at all, ran great!

A whole can eh? I dunno about that. Mfg. instructions are like 1 oz per gallon.

What could I expect to gain by using such a high dosage? Wing runs pretty good already. Maybe the question is what can I expect to lose by using a whole can?

Havent tried "liquidplumber" yet, still waiting for the draino max to go thru:goofygrin:

Worked for me, bike hardly made it up the local Mountain, a can later it screamed up the Mountain! I also changed the Fuel filter, but the old one seemed fairly clear? No regrets!:baffled:

I used 1/2 can in the gas and the other 1/2 in the oil. Any suggestions whenI should do an oil and filter change? I've got about 400klm / 240 miles since I added it.

Kyle,

I ran mine 275 miles and then did the oil / filter change. Most posts on this recommend 200 to 300 miles so you are in the ballpark at this point.

Put about 400 miles on my wing with the sea foam in the oil then changed oil and filter. Oil was dirtier than I expected but not filthy, kinda a brownish gold and much thinner than what I would have liked to see. I was running Castrol 20-50.

After the fresh oil and filter change, I hit the back roads of South Carolina (no helmet laws) :D. Irode about 140 miles this afternoon and I'd have to say that the wing is running better than ever. Realistically though, it would be hard to say if it is due to sea foam or the Lucus fuel treatment I added today or the fact that I put in even heavier oil than what I was running before.

Not convinced that Sea foam is a miracle in a can, I tend to think that my "wing" is getting better from just being used regularly instead of being mostly parked like it was by its former owner.

What's heavier than 20/50?:baffled:

Straight weight oils.. Castrol makes straight 30, 40, 50. :waving:

Might be a little hard on the Starter?

I suppose thats a possibility. The Honda boys advise against it as well, however the same Honda shop guys are selling a beautiful 1200 for next to nothing because they dont want to replace the stator. Too much trouble they say. :gunhead:

The same Honda boys cant synchronize my carbs either...... 1100I too old they say.

So, I'm going with my own experience with engines, lord knows I've had enough of them apart in my time, and I cant imagine that the 1100 is so much different than anything else. I wouldnt advise running heavy oil in winter time but it was 90 degrees here today. It wont cool off here for at least another month.

Been giving very serious thought to picking up that 1200. Its an anniversary edition and it is totally decked out. Looks to be in excellent shape. A Guy passing thrufrom Texas traded it in on a new one when the Honda boys told him how much the stator repair would cost.

I wonder if Sea foam would fix it?:coollep:

Apparently I may have found a source for Seafoam in Winnipeg. Apparently Piston Ring carries it, along with MMO. My wrench has also indicated another product as an addative to the gas tank. It is called OPTI II. Apparently the Wing Riders are buying it up by the case.

Kyle

Kyle I just got off the phone with about all of the top prospects in my area that I could think of-including Napa, and nobody has ever heard of any of those products-or they are too lazy to go look. Nova engine rebuilders is probably very similar to your Piston Ring and all they use is STP.

So I guess that I will have to hope that I will be able to use ATF as a sub. like SilverDave says. I am also pretty sure that I voted that I have never used the stuffs.

hawker22 ,I found mmo at canadian tire, not all stores carry it but they can order it,i would recommend trying it but be prepared for oil that looks like tar after 250 miles

Well, I have run the seafoam thru a couple of tanks, and I have to say that I have see a positive change in the bike. I no longer have a flat spot in the accereration, much smoother throttle response, and idles smoother. So I give it a thumb up.:cooler:

My bud at Piston Ring told me he has received several e-mail enquiries from people out in your neck of the woods wanting to know if they would ship Seafoam out there, apparently they don't.

I believe both products (seafoam & MMO) have been around since the 1940's

I found MMO at CTC. Went to the store and showed it to them on their shelf.

These guys were the daytime staff and were long time employees. Not like the small shops for sure.
