i was going to tear out my 76 engine and rebuild it ,i recieved a suggestion on here to try mmo ,the problem was no stores in my area carried it,so i had to special order it ,it took almost 4 weeks and a few phone calls before i recieved it,i changed the oil and filter added a litre of mmo and took off for a 200 mile ride, then changed the oil and filter again and i am happy to say it made a huge difference,i have since traveled almost 400 miles and the oil level has dropped about an eighth of an inch,it still is smoking a bit on starup but clears up once on the road.I also came across an original 76 gl seat in my travels and am wondering how comfortable the original seats were, thanks to everyone for their advice, now at least i can enjoy what is left of the riding season and then decide what to do although i am still thinking about rebuilding the engine this winter
