Hi Folks,:waving:

Does anyone know how to hookup a mobile phone directly into the spare socket on a Chatterbox Headset.

The pins are as follows 1. Mic+ 2. Mic- 3. Ground - 4. Right Speaker +5. Left Speaker+ and Pin 6 is inactive.

I don't need anything elaborate, like connecting through the intercom.

I have just discovered that you can't use a mobile phone with your helmet on!:cheeky1:and I am also waiting on a call from Inga who keeps trying to sell me viagra.

If its the HJC50 Chatterbox, you can get a cellphone cord (you didn't say what model phone you have) here;

Brownbear, there are several types of Chatterbox headsets. It will help if you tell us which one you have as there are various leads available.

I've got the full accessory list for Chatterbox. Next step is for you to tell us what model you have, we can't help you unless you give us this info.

Hi Folks :waving::waving::waving:

The phone is a nokia 6210. The chatterbox headset is the open face type with boom dynamic mike and stereo helmet speakers. I have ckecked the original packing, and there is no model number quoted. It plugs directly into the Wings intercom, through the 5 pin din connector.

I can get a motorcycle headset for the nokia, with a little push to answer button on the helmet. But I only have two ears, and they are already occupied.:D

I can also get an adaptor to fit the nokia which has a standard 3.5mm socket, so I need a male connector from there to a male 6 pin din which will plug into the spare socket on the side of the chatterbox headset. Is all this making sense???

I have searched the web, but no luck. including GWEddie's link to motodepot.

Has anyone tried wiring the standard nokia handsfree headset through their helmet speakers??? I have dismantled one of these, and there is only two wires inside???. Needless to say I don't want to blow the bejaysus out of the radio.

Please hurry with a reply, INGA from Lithuania is getting anxious that I haven't answered her calls.:D Please take note rcmatt007 of oklahoma:clapper:

Au contraire!! I do it all the time!. Really simple, the little button earset with the stubby boom mike goes right in the helmet with my head. The wee cable comes out and plugs into my cell which I have in a mount on the left handlebar. When it rings, I hear it and pinch the little control button on the wire and talk away. I can use the speed dial to make calls while underway as well, although I normally dial at stop signs and traffic signals. As for punching in long numbers, I recommend stopping on the shoulder, but it could be done underway.

My son and I both spend a lot of time on the road, he is a courier and I am a recruiter. Our cells are free mobile to mobile. We have talked for 2+ hours. Sure makes the trips go faster. And all this while my headset is providing me with stereo, CB and intercom. LOL!! It does get confusing when the wife is talking on her cell, me on mine and the intercom is on!! Hard to remember that this is after all occurring on a motorcycle!!

Brown Bear, why not buy one of the $50 adapter boxes on EBay that fits under the pocket and plugs between your helmet cord and the Wings system. You just plug you phone into the extra wire coming out of it. I seen a link to the guy that sells them on EBay here just yesterday.

Hey rcmatt007:waving: AMEN to that.:clapper:...to me that is what riding is all about...:bat:

For the life of me I can not understand why people want to get away to the peaceful countryside and bring along all the phones, pagers, games, tvs, stereos. Leave all that stress behind. How can you ever be free with all theinvisible stringsattached?:whip:

But to those who love that stuff I say, more power to you....:weightlifter:

:12red::cooldj:This sound is my exhaust, not a radio.:)

Not that it is elaborate or anything, but www.airrider.com sells a cellphone interface. Simple to install <10 minutes. Works through your intercom. I know it is not what you asked for, but thought I would mention it anyway. I have one, I find it works quite well.

Curious to know though, you use a Chatterbox and have an intercom system. Why do you require the Chatterbox? I may be looking at one myself, as we just got my wife a 2004 Shadow Aero 750. She wants to continue to be able to chat with me as we ride.

HI 01HGW:waving:

The Chatterbox is purely the headset and not the intercom system,the headsetconnects to the standard Honda intercom system through a 6 pin din down to a 5 pin din short cable. Also many thanks for the airrider link.:clapper:

Thanks Englishted, I will suss out the ebay link.:clapper:

I forgot to mention Brown Bear, Stuart from the UK makes them as well. The link is http://www.goldwing-gadgets.co.uk/

They only sell to the trade usually, but if you e-mail them (from their site) and tell them you got referred from Steve Saunders site they will probably look after you. That's what I did and it worked for me. I think Stuart values the volume of traffic that a link on Steves site generates for them.
