Well I have finally realized my dream of owning a Goldwing. I bought it from a widow whose late husband had bought it from an elderly couple. It is a 1983 GL1100 Aspencade with only 16,500 miles. The paint job looks like it has never seen a day of bad weather. It sat for over 8 years so you can guess the condition of some of the critical components. The kids and I are working on bringing it back to life. I have found several things that someone put back together wrong. I wouldn't have know it if it wasn't for the articles here.
I have restored two other Hondas and found web sites to be the place to go for inormation, so the first thing I did was to find a place on the web for REAL information on Goldwings. Here I am and I will visit often.
It's Alive!!! Got it all back together and running yesterday. It smoked and sputtered for a while but smoothed out eventually. Everything seems to be working good except a finicky add-on light on the front fork. All I need now is to title, tag, and insure it.
I have got to ride the '67 Dream today some before it gets jealous
I added Pictures of it as my avatar. My wife said my smile told her everything when I finished the first lap around the block. What a feeling! Now if the rain and cold would let up for a few days for me to ride it.
Welcome to our forum. Your GL1100 looks nice from what we can see in the avatar. Good examples of the GL1100 are getting harder and harder to find now.
:waving:Welcome and Hello I hope you find the family here helpful and fun . It sounds like you found a nice example of the 1100 series . Now as for the 67 Dream , oh sheesh that was like the Goldwing of its day :action:smooth , quiet , comfy .
Ride often and be safe . Traffic is a jungle out there .
Yes, the 305 Dream was the Touring bike in it's day, but those days are past. The seat is just too small for two riders. The ride is good but the attention it gets is even better. Most guys younger than mid forties have never seen one before, the older guys remember them and have great stories about them. Mine has a great story behind it too.
Thats a disscusion for the www.honda305.com website though. Here's a picture. Maybe I need to take a photo of them both together.
