I love this comment from June 30th:

Last night I also picked up a set of ratcheting straps. The kind you might use to strap down a scooter to a trailer if you wanted to pretend it was a Harley and you were headed to Sturgis or anyplace else in the world where you could have a good time.

It was a good read, it took a few days but I read it to the end.

The thing I can't figure out was, why was he in such a hurry to go home. Single man, retired (seemingly), a few dollars in the bank, whats the rush? Why set out on such a voyage and set a return date before you even leave?
