:)i didn't use the poor boy kit. made my own of course. got mine in a little closer and was able to use a 26.7 in belt instead of the 29.. didn't have to mod my lower at all or do anything other than to make the brackets and move the radiator forward a little not as much as they did i used a modern thinner electricfan instead.:):)

with cover on and no mods to it. 3 in's closer will do it everytime.

you know me i don't measure but i can. i basically did what they did except i trimmed and bent the panel in front of the carbs to allow me to move the alterantor in tighter. i lowered the alternator down and extended the upper bracket that holds the top of the alternator tight. also was able to move it in tighter at the bottom and made the bracket to fit. did quit a bit of trimming or grinding on the back of the alternator but nothing that would cause a failure. i could take it all a part and take some pics and measure if you really need it. can you see it tucked in behind the lower.

Take some pics if you tear it down for measurements and make up a list of the components you used including the brand of the fan and alternator.

Looks really good and tight in there. How much adjustment do you have for belt stretch?

I get them to you over the weekend.

hmmm and That alternator look bigger than the 89 geo metro. Is the battery stud on top or to the rear. JB

i have 3" of adjustment on the bracket. the shorter belt is tight going on but you can roll it on pretty easy and then pull the alternator tight. the alternator is from a 93 geo not the nip brand it is a little bigger around but i don't think it's as tall and i think it's a delco i don't remember seeing any brand on it and the battery terminal is on the outside in the rear. i'll tear it down take some pics and get the brand name of the alt. and the belt #.

Looks good,

The conversion is something I'm considering and it's good to have different options and veiwpoints.

Thanks

It looks really good. I think I would consider fabricating a cover that attached to the timing belt covers, to keep water and dirt from coming up into the pulley and belt.

yea you could do that but with the radiator in place it pretty much does that. i think i have enough room to do a cover i might see what i can come up with before i button it up for good.
