My Trip to Tunica Mississippi

This weekend was the national black biker round up in tunica mississippi. I took the trip with my club members from st louis to tunica (a little over 300 miles).

The trip started with a big issue with my bike. the bike kept acting like it was running out of gas. I had a fuel pump installed about 2 months ago. I was suspecting that the fuel pump was faulty. I got as far as sikeston Missouri where I found a dealer. So the unthinkable, i left the bike at the dealer and rented a car to get down to tunica. The next day the dealer called me and said that the wire from to the fuel pump was cut pretty bad. so 72 bucks to have them fix a wire :dumb:. I took the rental car back to sikeston and picked up the bike to get her back to the rally. I did that run early so I did not miss much. No problem at all after I got it fixed.

So now on to the fun. Harley Davidson had a very nice set up there with the history of black bikers and harley. I was more than impressed with how they showed up. Then I took a spin on what I consider the best riding harley made, the road glide (fixed fairing). I was totally not impressed and in fact was down right disappointed in the bike. I attribute this to being goldwing spoiled.

then at the rally, i ran into a guy who had the same year and color goldwing that I had. he has had his bike for a number of years and we had a good long conversation. he went over the maintenance things he has done (he does all of his own work on his bike). the one thing that we talked about is changing the timing belt which I need to do on mine. the way he described the job, it sounded pretty easy to do..

all in all it was a great trip. the wing performed like it should. i have no idea why anyone would NOT own a motorcycle with cruise control.

I was just watching the news on channel 13 out of Memphis and they reported on the event. it looked like a big crowd and I'm glad you had a good trip. they even showed a nice pearl white 1500 that was there:thumbsup:
My only issue was with the number of goldwings arriving on trailers. i was shaking my head all weekend at that. Damn possers. :wtf:
The trailer thing doesn't bother me much, as I would like to do that as well in the future. To put it another way, have an RV with an enclosed trailer for car and/or bike. This setup allows one to go to a particular destination and use it as a "home base" for exploring everything around that area for an extended period of time. Being able to operate in this manner gives someone a lot of freedom to explore the entire country at your leisure.
Not sure how many of those individuals were doing that or not. Certainly some people do though.
I call this goldwing row. At the hotel all of the goldwing owners seemed to want to park near each other.

I would agree if the riders were from not too far away. However if it was a cross country journey for them and they had time constraints or other halves that didn't bike travel that well it's a different matter.

If trailering was banned a lot of riders couldn't make it to some events.

I wouldn't have made it to NASSIR 1 if we didn't take the cage. Work restrictions and my wife can't ride due to a knee problem.

Just show up with a smile and good attitude.
