  • Room Block has been removed and the room prices have gone back to their regular rates of $109 and up....the $89 group rate we negotiated is no longer available.

FAQs

  • Wi-Fi - I am very happy to report that Wi-Fi has been increased to the entire Main Lodge now. So all of the rooms in the Main Lodge have Wi-Fi as well as the Mountview Restaurant and Bear’s Den Bar. There are also Hot Spots at the Pit Stop, General Store and Wildwood Grill.
  • Cell Phone Reception - The Verizon Wireless Cell Service hot spots are in the Lodge Lobby, the restaurants, the Pit Stop and the General Store. AT&T is almost non existent.
  • Pet Policy - Here is the link to the Pet Policy that can be found on their website here. You will see that the rooms do not allow pets and only a few of the cabins allow pets with a $150 fee. Pets are allowed in the camping area.
  • Onsite Overflow for Camping - Unfortunately they can’t allow tent camping anywhere other than at the campground. They have 10 tent campsites and 10 hook up sites, so hopefully we won’t run in to that problem. There are a couple of campgrounds that are fairly close to the resort if in worst case scenario (still researching this).
  • In room Coffee makers are not available however, they provide coffee in the main lodge lobby 24 hours/per day. A few personal coffee makers may also find their way to the pool side Cabana rooms as well.
  • The rooms do not have mini-fridges in them however there are several ice machines available so please plan accordingly.
  • Wheelchair access rooms are available and the bathrooms in these rooms have rails however the tubs are step or lift in and not roll in shower stalls.
PLEASE be sure to read all of the information as it will help to avoid misunderstandings and/or failed expectations. More detailed information concerning events will be posted as we progress with the planning over the next few months. If you have any questions or suggestions or if you would like to volunteer to be on one of our teams of "helpers" please feel free to post them here or drop either Dubswing or myself a PM and we will try to respond right away!

John, are the campgrounds also at this resort. How far are they from the hotel rooms?
There are campgrounds at the resort although as noted in the letter above we are trying our best to encourage everyone to take a room. If you choose to camp, and that is certainly your prerogative, then the resort's campground is about 2 miles away. They have 10 tent sites and 10 30 amp sites. According to their website the tent sites are $15 and the electric sites are $30 (no discounts for the event).

Curious, I had a chat with the reservation manager yesterday about keeping track of these rooms and she assured me they would. I'm sure John (Jobe05) had that room as he is one of the primary team leads for our helpers. I give them a call as soon as I can.

Just made reservations for a Cabana King room. We will be arriving on Sunday July 6 and leaving on Friday.
Did they give you a room number Bob? I'm tracking these to make SURE that they are booking correctly.

Looks like I am going to have to keep the reservation desk straight on room assignments to make sure someone doesn't arrive expecting one room and get another or even double booking. While they won't actually guarantee a specific room, about the only thing that would shift you is if that particular room was unserviceable for some reason.

So, when you make your reservations please make sure to get a room number and then either post it here or send me a PM with it. I will also need to know the first and last name that it was booked under and how many people in your party.

Thanks for the help!

I might have to parachute in with Helen the Viking then, 'cause we still have to ride there from the "low country" if we start at SBinSC's place as normal.:)
I suppose we could get an air conditioned limo to pick Helen up!

I did ask for 220 but Teresa didn't say that I would get it. Really wanted down by the pool, but no king rooms were available. The next time you talk with them please ask and let me know.
Yep, the rooms are going pretty fast! Actually, 220 is an awesome location, it is on the main floor of the lodge a level up from the pool but it is on top of #120. You're able to be right there and only have to go down a level and you're poolside!

Room update. We already have 20 rooms booked and I believe all of the poolside cabanas are reserved however there are still lots of really nice rooms available. I like the Garden Units which are slightly off to the two sides but allow for nearby parking while still being close to the action. I've included an aerial view with some labels that may help give you and idea of the lay of the land. Still two "Sweetheart Rooms" available with hot tubs!

Hey John,
Thanks for the photo, I do want that room! Please call and try to confirm our room number. You might offer her something.....like a ride on the best motercycle ever made or an invitation to pool side, after work, to hear some of CJ and Red's wonderful traveling stories. I need your help, John.
LOL, if you asked for it Charlie and no one else had asked for it then that's the room they penciled you in for. They are keeping a list of specific room # requests. If you tell them any room then they will wait until you show up and you get what you get. Of course they will also tell you that there are no guarantees but unless something happens to that specific room like a broken pipe or something then you should get it!

Just got confirmation from Fontana Village that the group rate will also cover you for an early arrival on SUNDAY, JULY 6th, 2014. Anything prior to that would be at their regular rates. If you have already booked this day (Sunday) but they quoted you a higher rate then you should call them back and have them rework it for the lower group rate.

I sent Rudy a personal invite to NASSIR 7 and while there is no guarantee that he will be there he is aware of the event, its proximity to Atlanta and he will see how things go next year before he can really commit to anything. I too am hoping he can make it!

Hadn't thought about pets Rudy. My bust! Thanks for the nudge. I'll check and post what i find out. Overflow is probably not going to be an issue, we will know more about the needs in a few months and react accordingly! Good to have you chime in!

First let me say that Bernie and I and the growing team of helpers are VERY excited about NASSIR 7 and I assure you that we are trying to cover as many bases as possible between now and next July. I am also sure that we have not and will not think of everything. Let me throw a few numbers at you. I'm sure these numbers aren't exact but they should be close. At NASSIR 4 I think we had maybe 10 campers (I was one of them) and less than 20 rooms. At NASSIR 5 we had about 7-8 campers (I was one of them too) and maybe 30 rooms or slightly more. At NASSIR 6 I believe there was even less camping and rooms (correct me if I'm wrong). The campground that belongs to the Village which is 2 miles down the road has 10 tent sites and 10 RV sites. We also have a large number of rooms blocked out in the lodge. We are currently in week one of the official posting and to my knowledge only one person has actually reserved a campsite and 24 rooms have been reserved. At this point, even though we expect the turn out to be higher than previous NASSIRs we aren't even sure we will need any overflow and to be honest we are trying to avoid it as it represents a logistics issue with people traveling any distance to get to/from the events. Let's give it some time, we will watch the reservations closely and if it looks like we are going to have lodging issues (camping/rooms) we will do our best to determine what the actual need is and secure additional facilities as needed. If you are really concerned about overflow I would suggest that you make your reservation sooner rather than later and avoid that situation all together. If participation is that high where we have an overflow problem then in my opinion that it is a very good problem to have! We will come up with a solution.

I checked the web site for Fontana Village and it says camping for Tents is $20 to $30 per night. I'm not sure where the $15 price came from. Maybe someone could clear that up?
This must have been a recent price change, I've got a printed page that says $15 - $20 for tent sites. As a matter of fact if you pull down their current "brochure" and look at page 4 you will see the $15 - $20 pricing I am referring to. I suspect that the brochure hasn't been updated yet. We didn't lock in any campground pricing so their price is certainly subject to change.

Update: I just reserved one of the camp sites online for 4 nights (July 7, 2014 thru July 11, 2014) and it gave me a rate of $16.92 per night after taxes and charged me a $30 deposit. So apparently they haven't updated their reservation system with new pricing yet either.
