I have a GL1500 and I have the Slipstreamer windshield I want to replace with the F4 Customs.
I am pretty sure according to CycleMax site I have the 27" standard size Slipstreamer.

So I go to F4 page, and the ordering options are Standard, +2 and +4. I see so many conflicting posts about what constitutes "standard height" and what measurement that is. I wouldn't mind staying about the same height I currently have.

Windshield in the completely down position.

Thanks.....

The stock 1500 shield measures 20" from the top of the chrome strip to the top of the windshield in the down position. There is 4" of adjustment so in the full up position it will measure 24" from the Chrome to the top.
The plus 2 is like adding 2" to the top of the shield and is fully adjustable just like the stock shield.
The Plus 4 is 4" taller then the stock in the full up position and is not adjustable.
Hope this helps and please call us if there is anything further we can do for you.

I did call F4 and spoke with a woman and we went back and forth, and finally decided to go with the +2 size. I wanted to get it ordered before the sale went off, so I hope it was the right decision.

Guess I will just measure it up to my existing windshield and see how it measures up.

My Slipstreamer measures around 23 from top of chrome to edge. So that corresponds with the 27" tall Slipstreamer windshield CycleMax sells.

So I guess I can raise it a bit if needed.

you can always raise or lower your seat padding!
I have a Corbin seat now, since that picture was taken, and it does sit lower that stock, that's for sure. Harder seat, but comfier in the long run. Served me well in the 4900 mile round trip to CO a couple years ago.

F-4 was a great choice!

And if too tall, easy to cut down. What I did as I found 2" over too much on our trike. I also did a trim on each side and sanded and polished the edges.

Might cut a vent hole next .... I have a spare vent .... and the same job on the 1200 turned out so smooth.

Love them Corbin Saddles ... they fit the butt!

Corbins are made to fit one persons butt, any change of 10lbs weight requires a change to the padding!

I always suggest looking at Craigslist ads in boats or bikes for sale threads for a local upholstery person,
who retired from big shop and now works at home for half the price.

That Corbin can be made much softer and maybe narrowed at the front edges for easier standing while stopped.

They make boots with extra thick soles, but then we run into clearance issues with the shifter. Well it was a good idea when I first wrote it!

Sure .... they will build a seat for you if you want to wait and if you want custom seat materials / colors ...
... but most of the seats they sell are built and use colors that match factory seats and back rests and are aimed at a rider in the area of 5'10" and 180 pounds. It's when you deviate very far from that that a custom fitted seat is suggested for maximum comfort (like a fellow 6'4" @ 240 might like a different fit as would the guy 5'6" @ 155). Don't know if that means a naked or dressed or what.

Maybe Im spoiled cause custom seat to me means-- custom fitted to your posterior.
My only reference being a found on Craigslist seat lady, who works from home and fixed up the Shadow seat from zero to hero.

I live in my own little world, but its ok they like me here~

I have the standard shield on my 97 1500. I am 6'4" tall and when riding my head in above the shield. When getting up around 60 or 70 mph. The wind will catch my helmet and whip it around a bit. ( I am use to this, done it for years) if I were to change I might try a +2 but anything taller than 2" above what I have now, I think would not work visually for me.
I guess you know you can adjust up and down a few inches right?
Best of luck.
