I was looking at the parts listing for a 1994 1500 Aspencade and notice they have 2 different seats listed.

One is listed as
001 SEAT, DOUBLE (TYPE1) 77200-MT8-000ZC 001 $931.00

the other one is listed as
001 SEAT, DOUBLE (TYPE8) 77200-MT8-000ZE 001 $271.58

Now one says type 1 and the number ends in a C and the other is type 8 and the number ends in an E. The type 1 lists at almost 3 1/2 times the cost.

What is the difference?

Dennis, I think the expensive one comes with passenger sound switching and anti rider head strike feature. You may need them if you buy it!!!

OK, I believe I figured it out. The 93 and below seats had the rain cover, and were a tad thicker. 94, you could get the earlier seat (more expensive with the rain cover) or the thinner (lower) seat without the cover. On my 93, I used the 97 and above seat, which at that time was thinner still, and cheaper yet at that time.:)

I think you may almost have it Gene, the SE models came with the rain cover, but if that is it, that is one heck of an expensive rain hood!!!!

My 2 cents: Had our '95SE 11 yrs. in spring 2012. NEVER liked OEM seat; hard & uncomfortable to us! Was fortunate to purchase brand new OEM '94 seat, which has more padding, is MUCH more comfortable for wife/yours truly. 'nuff said. ....papasmurf
