Got a 1983 Interstate with non workiing neutral light and OD light. Ocassionaly but rarely the OD light will come on but not necessiarilly when I'm in 4th gear. It happened yesterday when I was in 3rd. I've check the lights themselves and the wiring to them and I'm 99.9% they are good. I also 99% sure the problem is in the switch itself. The question is this. Am I correct in assuming that the engine will have to be pulled to get to this switch for diagnosis and repairs? I recently bought this bike and it's also got an oil leak. I'm guessing there has been some shoddy work on this thing. Also would anybody have any idea's on what kind of cost's a guy should expect if I have to have the engine pulled?

Thanks for any input,

Van

Thanks again for the info. I've done some more research on procedures and now I just need to decide if I want to tackle the job or not. It sounds like you've been there and done that and it's pretty much just nuts and bolts without any special tools involved and some time. Since I'm retired and have the time and people tell me I shouldn't be riding anymore anyway, it will be a good way to keep me off the streets for a while.

Have a good'un,

Van
