New to this forum. I have been looking for a good used Goldwing. A couple caught my eye. A 1985 with 38,000 miles and a 1992 with 30,000. The 85 looks real clean and taken care of well. The 92 also appears to have been taken care of until the last owner took a slow spill on some gravel and mucked up some of the plastics on the right side. Both are at $3000. Any suggestions out there. This will be my first Goldwing and I can't wait for the snow to melt. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum Slowtree! :waving:

Personally, I would get the 1992 GL1500. More power, newer so less parts issues...........and you can fix up the scratches. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. I have already learned a ton of info from all the various topics. Anybody else want to chime in with an opinion or advice on the 92 vs. 85 Goldwings. I am all ears.:action::action: Thanks again.

Thanks Flyone. That is what I was thinking also, but I am still learning about the Goldwings and how much plastic and chrome costs. This is a whole new world of motorcycles for me.

Well the 85 is a 1200 cc with an internal stator. The 1992 is a 1500 with an alternator and reverse. The 1500 is if you are planning long rides probabily the best. It depeends on how mucked up the plastics are do you have any pictures to share. Oh also you should move this to the GENERAL TECHNICAL FORUM as that is where the real GURU's hang out...
