New Goldwing

Well, I after lurking here for a couple of weeks I finally bit the bullet and bought a new 2009 Goldwing. It's the basic model with the comfy package but not the ABS,CB,Nav package. So far I've put about 500 miles on it in 3 days of local riding and trying to get to that first oil change mark so I can take an extended trip.

This forum is a world of info and I'll be drawing on it regullarly I'm sure. Now the "farkling" begins. First this is going to be a windshield. The stock windshield lets the air buffet the top of my helmet even in the highest position and it's quiet irratating so I'm looking for something at least 2" taller and seriously looking at the Tulsa. The only thing I'm wondereing about with the Tulsa is that it looks like it tapers towards the top and I would think that you would loose some shoulder protection from the wind. What's the poop? I like the stock windshields wideness (is that a real word?) and I don't see how the tulsa shield can give that much protection. Also, it looks like the Tulsa shield would dump all that air right into the passengers face. Help here please.

I bought a Slipstreamer that was taller(but for a 1500). Scratched it once, and it polished out fine. I'm 5' 11"and have no buffetting isues. My wife is about 5' 2" and does get a tad on the top of her helmet at highway speeds. jimsjinx

Congrats on the new Wing. I just got my 2010 ABS (avatar) two weeks ago and went out on the first ride with the guys on Saturday. Way nicer ride than my V Star. You just gotta love the torque these things make and the handling, while not a sport bike, is much closer to them than my cruiser ever was. I haven't dragged anything yet but I'm sure I'll get there as I get more comfortable with the handling and size of the bike. Plus we now have bikes we can keep for years and 100,000's of miles. :clapper::action::clapper:

the tulsa is what i have. it does a great job of keeping the wind off of you and your passenger. it works great! dont be afraid to try the tulsa. keep on :18blue::18blue:rick

Congrats on the new bike! I just got mine about the same time you did, same miles. I'm relatively short (5'10") and prefer having the wind on me, so the stock windshield works fine for me. Can't say the same for the SO, she gets a lot of turbulence. She seems to be happy with the status quo.

That being said, I've seen a lot of folks using the Tulsas. If the wife ever starts complaining about the buffeting I'm getting one of those.

If you get one I would spend a little extra for one with a vent.
I have the slip streamer and love it......
I bought mine with vent for 147 bucks on cyclemax for my 1500...
