New Goodies

Saturday I went to Venco Wings in Loudon Nh. and got a few new goodies for Wanda. (2008)

Front and rear tires. Bridgestones. Formally ran E3s. It is to early to tell exactly how much difference there is as I have not done enough miles on them yet. I can feel that it takes less pressure using counter steering to do the twisters. One thing is for sure, maneuvering in tight and close as in a parking lot is a lot easier. Of course the fact that they are new tires helps. Had 12,500 miles on old tires with decent thread left but got tired of the howling.

A Venco volt meter. A product of the shop owner. The read out is red LED display. (not LCD) Easy to see even in day light. Now something I did not know. When you turn the key you get line voltage. (battery) After starting it takes approximately 18 seconds for the reading to come up to 14.6 volts. You can watch it on the meter. This is to prevent a voltage surge to any of the sensitive electronics or accessories you may have added.

Baker air wings. A great addition to deflect cold air or to direct warm air now that cooler weather is coming.

Muth directional mirrors. Neat and functional.

A brake light modulator. Of course for safety to get the attention of drivers behind you. May not work for people on cell phones but really is noticable.

LED fog lights not incandescent. 35 watts each that have bright white light. To see better and to be seen by oncoming traffic.

A Martini trunk light set. They wrap around the trunk and have 80 individual LED red lights. Now 80 sounds like a lot but they are small bulbs and are embedded in a chrome strip and look quite nice. They are also hooked up to the brake light modulator.

So now I have spent the kids inheritance. Just remember, the price of the Goldwing is the down payment on the accessories.

Ride long and often.

I love your line about how the actual bike is just a down payment on the accessories. I've owned bikes for over 25 years and spent a few bucks customizing them here and there. A few months ago I traded in what will most likely be my last cruiser and moved up to my first Wing. So far I've been taking baby steps on the accessories but they do add up for sure.

I have the Baker Hand Wings which I love and will be getting the Air Wings with Lowers very soon. I also have the Muth Signal Mirrors which were a very nice addition.

The funny thing is that pretty much everything else you mentioned I want to add to mine as well :) Looks like I will have to take a trip up there soon.

One question - did you install everything or did you have them install for you?

Figured while at Venco wings having the tires done I might as well have everything else put on while there. Venco only works on Goldwings. From the first year made to present. Labor rate is $60.00 per hour. Great place.

Do you mind if I ask how long it took them to install all of the items you mentioned? Did you have to make an appointment?

I've heard nothing but great things about them since they do everything Gold Wing I know I need to go there sometime soon but know my wallet / bank account might suffer :)

No problem. I got there at 9AM and Jim started right away. He worked until 2PM for a total of 5 hours. Every Saturday he breaks out the grill and cooks burgers or dogs for who ever is there so I got lunch thrown in. And yes you do need to make an appointment. He has a parts and showroom filled with wing goodies and clothing for you to savor. Neat place.

I too have a brake light modulator on my wing. It really does grab the attention of anyone behind you. Most cars will stop a little further back behind you as well, especially at night. All my tail/brake lights flash as well as my trailer lights.

I went to Venco on Saturday, very nice people and they really do live and breath everything Goldwing which is really cool.

I went there specifically because I was told they have a lot of Gerbing stuff in stock and potentially a little cheaper. I ended up picking up a Jacket Liner and some Gloves for much less then I would have paid locally or online.

They really do have just about everything you can imagine in stock and ready to go which was SO hard to resist. If I wasn't going on vacation in 2 days I probably would have spent a whole lot more then I did :)
