Hello one and all!
After visiting the site a few times in a guest status I decided it was time to jump in with the rest of you. Currently riding a 83 Gl1100A. (Wineberry)and also a 1999 BMW F650.
I purchased the GLfor a reasonable price and so far havereplaced, forks seals, buffed down tubes, new starter, new water pump, coolant crossover tubes rehabbed, replaced all fuses, bulbs, brake shoes, multiple oil changes with the first2 at 500/100 miles with a couple of cans of sea foam added to fuel/crankcase. (Mileage increased from 35 to 44.5 mpg) This is my 4th old wing. Been on them since 1985, minus 4 years on a K1200LT (Nice bike when it ran, but maintenance nightmare) Sold it for a loss and am back on a GL1100 and loving life once again.
Havingtraveled with the military I had no time to tinker with my bikes other than simple repetitive maintenance, Isimply needed them tobe readyon demand. The result isI have been riding trouble free Hondas since 72 and have never been left on the side of the road or towed, except for once when the Honda shop didn't replace a stator when instructedso I can't blame the bike. I still have a few minor problemswith the bike I haven't ironed out yet but before I burden members with them I will research the site.
Ride history: 1972 CB100, 1974 CB350, 1980 400 (Yamaha Special) 1981 GL1100I, 1984 GL1200A, 1982 GL1100 Standard, 2001 K1200LT, 2003 MZ Baghira. 1983 GL1100A and 1999 BMW F650
