Greetings all.
About a month ago, I got myself a 1983 GL 1100 I.
I've been wanting a bike like this for a very long time, I just never really had the means to get even a used big bike in near mint condition.
I kept seeing this bike in front of a costumers house, same spot day after day.
I finally asked about it, and found that it had been sitting there for a little over two years.
Thinking that the rider had lost interest, I thought I'd get a good deal.
To cut to the chase, I got it for $1,000.
The bike, a helmet that's to small, half a set of leathers,(pants also too small), and a good bike jack.
The paint needs to be re-done, some of the wiring needs to be repaired, and it runs like crap at low RPM.
Otherwise, it's a really nice bike.
So far, new plugs, new plug wires, new timming belts, and I cleaned the hell out of the carbs.
Still missing at idle.
The right belt was really bad, so I'm thinking it may have jumped a notch.
I plan on attacking that this week.
Thanks everyone, glad to be here.
I hope to get on more often.
Haven't had time to do anything on the bike this week, but I'll keep you posted.
Thanks again for the warm welcome.
I did a little work this weekend, no improvement I'm afraid.
I know this isn't the correct forum for this.
Should I start a thread in the technical forum?
