Ian the standard Honda vin number is 17 digits. Your number is only 15 so there should be some other information. Here are some handy links on vin numbers.

The aus/jap vin numbers are 17 digit as well. With the vin check site my aus/jap info was not available but if I changed a character it came back check digit incorrect so I know the vin number is legitimate.
