Hi guys I just registered in your forum. I have just purchased a 2003 abs goldwing. I have been on the vtx forum. But now I finally got the bike I have always wanted and my daughter has now taken my 05 vtx. I would like to ask about the 03 abs goldwing like is there anything I need to know about that bike. I have owned Honda's for 40 plus years but never a wing. I am hoping the handling is not to far from the vtx.

Welcome Mike149. There's a lot you need to know about a goldwing. I'm still learning stuff. Some of the Guru's will be along to tell you everything you ever need to know, and then some. If you have a specific question type it in the search and you'll find a wealth of knowlege.

Thanks for the hiya. I am most concerned about things that I need to worry about.

Welcome. You will find that there is no comparison in handling. The 1800 VTX handles like a hippo compared to the gl1800 handling like a gazelle. Not a knock on the VTX. The wing is just completely different.

Thanks one and all for the warm welcome. I think I have found a wonderful site to belong to.

Welcome to the Forum Mike!! :waving: I can't help with your questions as I have a 83 Gl1100 but we have many owners that can. The Wingswill take some getting used to but they areTHE bike for serious riders!! I had a Yamaha V-STAR when I bought my wing and I was going to keep both. The Wing was to be for trips and the Yamaha for around town and to and from work. It did not take longtill the Yamaha was just sitting in the garage so it ended up sold!! :waving: :waving: :waving:

Welcome Mike - you are going to love this place as much as your 1800. THe only real thing I would be worried about (from personal experience anyway) is the frame crack. Other than that just ride it mate and above all enjoy it.

Mike149, Welcome to the "WGGWWS" !!!!

Phil brings up a good point , have your frame check out for cracks, might be OK though?!

I would think the Wing will be a tad more top heavy than the "X" for tight u-turns ?

But now your on a "Rolls Royce", enjoy it!:clapper:

P. S. Stay away from our "Deer Thread"!!!

Just watch out for the deer, the rabbits and buffalos with pancakes on their heads and the singing gerbiles, and have fun riding your new wing!:jumper:

OMG ... Around here we call the  huge tire chunks that peel off the 18 wheelers   "Gators"  they are very sharp, and quite dangerous  if you hit one/forums/images/emoticons/shock.gif... Now every time I see one.. I will have an image of  these tire pieces  with a pancake on the top of them .../forums/images/emoticons/confused.gif LOL I preferred the Bunny image I think  SilverDave /forums/images/emoticons/emoticonsxtra/cooldj.gif
