Hello,

Presenly ride a midsize cruiser, but I'm pretty sure a touring machine is in my near future, and in my mindGW is the definition of touring MC's. I'll have questions and this looks to be a logical place to ask and search for answers, so hi.

Thank you all for the very warm welcome. Looks like a very friendly and colorful place. I read through the buyers guide and it was great - very informative history of these machines. Just for a little background - I rode for a few years in my 20's (Yamaha Visioin 550, Suz GS850G), then when we started having kids I sold the bike and bought a camper. The last few years I've been toying with the idea of a scooter for the 10km commute to work and this May ventured into a dealership and took a walk through the showroom. That was it. 2 days later I bought a new Vulcan 900. I have 7500km on it now - just finished a 1400km ride from Edmonton Alberta to Winnipeg, Manitoba (2 days). Here's a picture my wife snapped just before I left:

While I've always known I would one day have a touring bike, this last 900 miles has me thinking sooner than later. The bike ran fine, but on longer jaunts a little more creature comfort would be nice .

Kerry,

Are you still in Winnipeg? If you are, I'll be at the firehall at the corner of St Mary's & Worthington in south Winnipeg tonight after 6pm. Stop by and say Hi.

I'm afraid I couldn't get over there tonight - family stuff. This holidaying is hard work :smiler:.

Thanks for the invite though.
