Hi all. I've been riding for 6 yrs.

Started on a Suzuki gl550, then went to a Suzuki Volusia VL800, and most recently my new-to-me 1997 GL1500SE.

My fiance' bought a 2010 GL1800 and I made the mistake of driving it....that's all she wrote folks...i HAD to have a GW...but my budget could only handle a gl1500

We take long trips on the bikes, and even though i LOVE my VL800, I really needed something more comfortable for our 4000 mile road trips

Can't wait to learn from members here all about my GL1500.

I'm taking the arm-rests OFF....really not liking those...

Well the Arm rests are for your Passenger so if someone is going to ride on the back they really help them. The 1500 is really just a Touring bike while the 1800 is a Sport tourer. The 1500 is more comfortable on the long rides while the 1800 is much better in the twisties. The 1500 has much more room to put stuff in the bags. The lights on the 1800 are much more visible than the 1500 during the day so I added rear facing LED's.The 1500 has a bunch of gadgets the 1800 has more. The 1500 has more leg room I have a 36" inseam and was uncomfortable on the 1800 my knee's touched the Fairing. However the Passenger on the 1800 has an extra 3" of seat to be comfortable on. So what I'm saying is it is all about you. I personally will ride a GL1500 as long as they exist and then grudgingly go to a GL1800. Others couldn't wait to go to the 1800's as I said it's all about personal preference.
