Greetings Folks! Just signed up, although I have read posts before. I bought my first wing last year, an '83 aspencade. It's been a great bike so far, other than putting in a new starter. But I am eyeing up the 1800's currently. Though I cannot afford a brand new one, I'm looking for comments on what, if any, year(s) are preferable between 2001-2008? Any help or comments are truly appreciated!

If you can swing it, any year with ABS just could be a "life saver" for you in loose stuff or wet.

Brent,

Lots of people like the 2005 model because you could get the ABS brake option without having to buy a higher level model with more options like heated seats and navigation.

That can save you some bucks if you're on a budget.

Any year should be fine.

Try to buy one not already chromed out so you can dress it up yourself and make it your own.

Some like chrome, some like lights, some like paint, some like it all.

This is what makes it so much fun.

Thanks for the welcomes and the tips. Being from Minnesota, I will probably wait until spring now to buy one. But I've been looking (and drooling!) already. I was gonna go to a 1500, but after all I've read it seems wise to just get the 1800. Looks like a better handler and nicer bike overall.
And Sethan, it sure appears to be cheaper to buy one with goodies already attached. I like both the extra chrome and lights. They both look pricey.
And can I get any opinions on Kuryakin (sp?) products? Are they the best on the market?

Oh boy...just HAD to ask that last question (Kuryakyn). Damned can o worms is opened again ;-)
I personally really like their products. Have had nothing but perfect fit and finish with the items I have installed; however you will get a variety of opinions & experiences.

That is pretty much a loaded question!!!!

Somewhat like what is the best oil, tires, deer alerts, etc...

All you can get from that question is an opinion and possible argument between members.

If you have the money or the price is right, I would go for a 2008 GL1800. It's true, that many are the same, but Honda does make things better every year (although you may not see it). Maybe you could find someone that has a 2008 sitting in their garage with only 15,000 miles on it, and they just want to get it out of the way! :needahug:

Just keep looking! It's waiting for you somewhere!

Welcome to the forum, +1 on wing10's post. I love my 04 gl1800. As far as technology goes, 08 is probably your better bet, but get what fits you and enjoy it.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome, and all the great advice. Being from balmy Minnesota, I will be looking at wings online over the winter and getting more serious about a newer ride in the spring.
