I just bought a brand new 2008 GL1800. I have not had a Wing for 8 years. I've been riding an 1100 Shadow which I am keeping. In the past I have had the 1000, 1100, 1200, and 1500 Wings.

I noticed that the rear wheel rim gets black dust very fast. The front does not do this. Brake dust I'm thinking. Is this pretty normal for the 1800?

More than likely. If you don't want the black dust, replace your pads with ceramic pads. Expensive, but excellent performance, and no black dust.

Definetly brake dust. And by the way

Yep, certainly is. It encourages you to wash under there. :dude:

The nice thing about the rear wheel is that nobody can see how dirty it is. :cheeky1:

I hate the brake dust. I bought some chrome wheels for mine and when I put them on this winter I'm also thinking of ceramic pads. What's money anyway? If you don't spend it then it is only paper.

I don't remember my other Wings getting black as quick as this one. It will encourage me to wash it more. At least it is pretty easy with a center stand.

I'll have to check into those ceramic pads. My wife says if we don't spend it the kids will. Getting the Wing was her idea. She hates my Shadow.

Welcome to the board and nice color:action:. I just washed the bike this weekend and cleaned up that mess. Ceramic pads next time for sure.
