Hello all. My name is Tim I bought a 1988 1500 GL in November.it has 27,000 miles on it.It had been parked in a barn for twelve years. It looked like brand new on the outside, but under the plastic was another story. I had to tear the bike apart, clean out all the rat poo, replace all rubber parts, fuel pump and clean fuel tank. Put it all back together and took it on it's first ride this past sunday!!! Runs like new. I have a few questions about trans noise in fifth gear that i will post later.thanks

Welcome Monkey Wrench well your sure lucky to be able to jump right in and do your own work on the wing. I know that saves alot and you learn about your ride in case there are problems in the future. Maintenance is a must also, this is the site to learn from though andthe pictures and tutorials are exellent. Happy Holidays.
