I live in The Woodlands a suburb just north of Houston, Texas. I am 67 years old and currently single. I lost my wife of 27 years in October 2008.

I purchased my Goldwing in December of 2008. I already have 2400 miles on it. I have always wanted to own a Goldwing and I certainly have not been disappointed with this motorcycle. This is the easiest bike to ride that I have ever ridden.

I am planning a major trip this summer form Houston to Syracuse New, York by way of the Smoky Mountains. Any recommendation on what I should load up for the road would be much appreciated.

Hi :waving:Welcome to the Forum from South Carolina :15blue:.

Be sure to take your camera and plenty of memory cards to preserve the memories you will make on your first big trip. A good rain suit might come in handy from time to time too. I'm sure some of the guys on the Forum will have some valuable advice for you. Again welcome and ride safe.

Welcome rfp60 if your ride is to take you to the NY area on June 1 thru 6th in Lake George NY, not far at all from syracuse , is a great motorcycle rally called the Americade. You won't be disappointed making it there for a day or two. If you havn't heard of this rally goggle americade and check it out. I havn't done any long distance rides yet other than CT to NY (the Americade) it's about 4to 5 hrs for me. However many on this site are long distance riders with many stories and even web sites of their adventures. Enjoy your trip and I'm sure you'll get answers here.:waving::action:

Welcome. Sorry to hear about your loss of your wife. If you post about your trip in the general topic section there are many who will tell you about their adventures and give suggestions.

I encourage you to check out the Events section as there are a lot of things coming up and that section is easily over looked. There is a ride to Llano in early April that you are welcome and encouraged to join.
