Hi, I am a new member. I am working on learning this sytem. I have a 1985 Goldwing that has a rattle that sounds like a marble flying around in the driveshaft housing when I let up on the throttle and coast. There is also a whining noise like gear whine. Any ideas before I take it apart. Thanks for any replys.
Is it possible that it's backfiring when you let off ?
The gear whine is there most of the time, one thing is to check the oil in the gearbox at the rear tire and the oil level in the engine, that is also the oil for the transmission.
There will be morefolks with helpful suggestions soon:waving:
Sounds are tough to diagnose without hearing them. You didn't say how many miles are on the bike, but chances are your noise isn't too serious. GL12s make some gear-whine noise.
You might want to take the bike to a local shop that works on older machines...or there are forum members in your area that might be able to give the bike a listen.
