Just joined this forum. Just picked up an '81 GL 1100 Interstate (Cheap!) and I am looking for all the information I can find on it. Hasn't been ridden in about 2 years. Has 37,000 Mi. Battery is totally dead. I did jump start it yesterday, and it fired right up! A little rough at first, then smoothed out after a few minutes . Has a little bit of smoke from the exaust pipes, but I think that would be expected after sitting ( sometimes out in the weather! And recently indoors in a shop). And I also dont know if there had been any fuel stabilizer put in the tank ( Id guess not).
I plan on draining the tank and putting in fresh high octane fuel and a new batt. for starters. I know theres a lot to do to it especially since I dont know alot of its history except the last owner did ride it two years ago.
p.s.
can anyone tell me an easy way to drain the tank?
Thanks.
