My replacement seat finally showed up today on my front porch. I ordered one that fit on a 99 1500aspy. It has a dual two tone color. The seat area is dark charcoal and the edges down the sides of the seat are black. Might order a new backrest to match. Below is the old original. I have been riding around with a beaded seat cover to cover the split. The beaded cover sure was great for summer. Left it on full time and here is what can happen. But your sitter never gets wet with a beaded seat only if you are riding in a monsoon. I am going ot order a factory cover for this seat and put it up for sale

Here is what the new seat looks like. The markland backrests now matches
the seat but the rear seat back is a bit different. Probably go with a sheepskin
now.

A new passenger backrest isn't all that expensive. I bought a brand new Honda OEM seat and backrest for my '93 a couple years ago from Honda Direct Line for around $225 for both. I think the backrest was around $60. Sure made the bike look newer, and feels a lot better on the backside.

Got mine from HDL also. I looked at the backrest. Most likely will order it. After I installed
it the garage had a new bike smell to it.

how long did it take you to get yours from HDL. I think it took over six weeks to get mine but it was worth it because people were buying used OEM seats for around $300 on eBayat the time. In fact I thought DHL's price was an error since they priced the brand new seat for so much less than I'd seen used ones on eBay. It always pays to do some reasearch before buying anything used.

it took about two weeks. They shipped it this past monday.
The seat for my year (88) listed for 350 and the one for
the 99 listed for 218.(????) Shipping over 200 is free. Even found
a BRAND NEW IN THE BOX seat on craiglist in Wisconsin listed
for 60 bucks and he would not ship it.(?) Oh well.

I also noticed the difference in prices for different year 1500s. Kinda odd since I'm pretty sure they will all interchange.
