Hi

I just had my right leg amputated in November so I"ve been sitting in Wing"s (LoL) doing a lot of reading this fourm , I want to thank you all for helping me keep my sanity !! because there"s doing something at this 24/7 !!

I have a 85 interstate that"s getting no fire at number 2&4 cylinders !! it has new PG"s about 6 month"s ago !! I used a spark plug tester and I got fire at number 1&3 cyl but nothing at 2&4 !! Don"tboth number 2&4 fire off of different coil"s ? why would just one side of the engine not be firing ?

I had one doing that here at my shop last year and found the pickup coils had damaged wiring. It was not installed correctly and rubbed on the timing belt. $90.00 for a new set and away it went. Sorry to hear about your personal lose. Hope you can get a new artificial one installed. Tony:waving:

I has the same problem on #2 and #4 on my 80. Turned out one of my spark advancers was shot.

If you used one of those spark checkers you just hold to the wire and it flashes if firing and the plugs are fouled it will not flash. 2&4 are on different coils so if 1&3 are firing the coils are working so the PGs are working. It could also be the wires or the coils themselves could be cracked and the spark going to ground for that side.

I went to NAPA and got a set of wires for forklifts - 7mm non-resistor wires. Works perfect.
