Northern Michigan Autumn Colour Tour

Not sure how many people are from Michigan or near Michigan, but wanted to see if anyone had interest in doing an Autumn colour tour. Michigan is brilliant in the Autumn and is great for cruising/touring, etc. I'm in Western Michigan and a good route is to go up the lakeshore (Lake Michigan) to the Mackinac Bridge. (Maybe beyond into the Upper Penninsula). I'm actually contemplating a trip to Copper Harbor on the northernmost tip of the UP. Anyway, just putting a feeler out there. I'll probably do it Solo anyway.

Cheers,

I usually make it to the UP at least once a summer but not this year. If you do go to Copper Harbor you should definitely hit Brockway Mountain Drive off of M-26. :action:

Don't forget the run on RT 119 from Harbor Springs through Good Hart and Cross Village. Did that last summer twice. This summer I did RT 2 along Lake Michigan in the rain...........cold rain too. No complaints though, welcome change from the hot and humid here. Continued through Ont, NY, PA, MD, WV, VA, TN, NC, GA and home. US 219 through NY and PA was really a nice run. Dry too for a change.

Saw three Road-Side Eagles; AR, MI and VA. Looking for dinner to cross the highways I guess. The one on 127 in MI was at Houghton Lake area early morning and almost picked me off. If I was on the pegs, I could have reached up and touched. The two cars I had just passed almost lost it in the commotion. One of the high points of the trip actually.

Any ways you have a great trip through Calumet and such. Take the Cliff RD?? It parallels US 41 for a little ways. lots of Maples along the ridge up high. Great sight if your timing is good. We stayed the night in Copper Harbor back then at a great little motel and had one of the best meals near by too. Almost talking myself into it.

I lived in MI my first 46 years and always rode 'color-tours'. Gotta love those maples!! Did all the rides around the Great Lakes many, manytimes over my 43 years of riding.

Someday hope to get up there again and see all the 'red' and 'glowing gold' in the colors.

We just don't get those down here. :shakehead:

Sounds like a nice trip, but I can't make it this year. I'll keep a look out for this next year.

I keep putting off a trip around Lakes Huron and Superior. Most of my rides are solo, but for safety issues at my age another rider or two would be just perfect. Maybe next Sept.

Here is a guide.

I'd like to do a one-day lower Michigan ride (I have kids so multiple days gets hard). Anyone planning a ride, I'd be happy to join.
