Honda does a fantastic job supporting their bikes compared to the other Japanese makes but I am curious about one thing. Say you need a coil or an ignition module for you GL1100. I am very leary of unbranded ebay stuff but I am also concerned about getting a "new" OEM part that was made 30ys ago. I suppose some parts have a date code on them but even just sitting on the shelf things age and there are always DOA's. I am sure somebody knows more about this than I and I'm eager to hear from them.

Parts are only made for a specific model for so long so if you can still get the part new it is going to be 30 years old and that's it. It would be a major problem to continue making parts for everything forever. Most hard parts have a seriously long shelf life though so not a problem, rubber and plastic not so much.
