changing oil book said 3.7 qt.has anybody put 4 qt. is that to much will it smoke alot or is it ok:?:?:?

The Honda maintainence manual specifies 3.4 qts.

even then, there is always a varible amount left behind, and so using the guage tells you when it is full

of course there was the guy I knew who thought he needed to fill his 78 wing up until he could see the oil at the fill hole.... (honest to god true story) whooooo that bike smoked!

Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Stop the engine and make sure the oil level is at the upper level mark of the oil inspection window.

When I change oil Iput in 3 quartsthen start the engine and let it idle for a fewminutes and shut it down and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. I then slowly add oil till it is at the upper level mark. Never fill beyond the upper level mark.
