Not unusual, when hot the oil is thinner and doesn't cushion moving parts as well as when cold.

What kind of oil are you running?

I'm using a 10-40 oil I got for HONDA and I have less than 70,000 miles on the bike never rode hard and the pipes look like the day it was bought in 82

My 83 is the same way, real nice when cold but mechanically noisy when hot.

Alot of it is the gears, clutch and primary chain slopping around, not much can be done about it without opening up the engine and replacing parts.

Low oil pressure could have something to do with it as well so would be a good idea to at least check it.

My bike is the same way. Mostly cyl head noise though. I plan on using a little bit thicker oil next time to see what happens.

Hello,

My 86 aspy did the same, with 10/40 oil, I settled for 20/50 which made all the difference.

cheers,
