I have picked up the radiator hose that can be cut to make the upper and lower radiator hose for my 1977 GL1000. The new hose is just a shade over 1" id and fits loose on the fittings. Will this squeeze down and seal good. Any one with experience with this?

I agree with Dennis but for a different reason. Tightening down on a loose fitting hose might cut the hose causing premature failure. If it's not so loose as to "bubble" at the clamp you might be OK though....

Information that I have indicates that NAPA - 7733 or Gates - 21008 should work on GL 1000, GL 1100, GL 1200.

I know this is a WAY old post, but thought I would add a little. To help a hose fit well, and to help protect it from the clamp, wrap some black electrical tape around it. Don't make it too tight or it will be hard to get the hose on! This is a trick that was taught to me by a friend who used to be the head mechanic on the Ferrari racing team in Europe. Neat little trick.

Again, aware this is a way old post. Just bought a pair of NAPA 7733 hoses to make my upper and lower hose. $39.16 out the door with 2 stainless steel worm gear clamps.

Works great! I had to put the clamp for the upper hose on the radiator, then slip the hose on, and into the clamp, and tighten the top clamp with a 1/4 drive with swivel and long extension, but it all worked. Fits great, looks great, and no more leak! Very glad I found this thread!
