We attached the last piece of tupperware to my friend's 1200 yesterday evening. After new timing belts, radiator hoses and a Poorboy alternator conversion it was time for a test ride. He cranked the 1200 and checked everything closely. It started instantly! I rolled my bike out of the garage, cranked it up and we donned our riding gear and rode for about an hour. Brought it home and shut them down. I told him to start it up again. It roared to life and he had the biggest grin I had seen in a long, long time. Almost as big as Red's when she drove her Miata for the first time! Now I have a riding buddy and a good friend! Life continues to be good!
I put a poorboy alternator on my 1200 about 2 years ago (I think). That was the BEST investment and upgrade I have ever done for the old girl. After fighting dead batteries, getting stranded and hundreds of jumpstarts, I grin every time I hear my Wing roar to life.:action:
