Yup the deal is that every Houston Motorcycle officer, as does almost all departments in and around Houston, buy their own motorcycles..But talking to a Harris County Constable they can only keep a Motorcycle for 5 years max as a patrol unit, then if they want to keep it for escort services thats OK, up to 8 years old..So this one is getting that "magic" 5 years old, time for a new one...
This Constable now rides a Harley, tried to sell it to me, after I told him about Johns Wing, he was very interested until I mentioned the year model, sorry John I tried..Good news is he is tired of the time his Harley spends in the shop, so a Goldwing is on his Christmas list..
Right now the only Police Dept in the Houston area that, I know of, there may be another, but this Dept. buys and provides a motorcycle for their officers is the Belt way 8 Toll Road Authority...They have bought Goldwings from day one!!!..Mainly because of the dependabilty of the Wings..Plus Harley can't beat the price..
So yeah a good way to clear traffic, but bad news if you get caught doing it, without the badge...One thing you can bet your last dollar on, is that that Wing has been well taken care of, because if it's not running right, that officer has to use a patrol car and you know how Wing riders are...
