I posted a thread for a poker run for charity in Oregon for this last Sunday, but forgot to bump it up. Probably good thing I didn’t. The ride was more like a high speed contest to see who can outrun the other. I was the only wing that showed up, so you can imagine the jokes. Love the comments about where do I keep the cappuccino maker..

I was riding with Thea, Wldwcnwmn(His Witch), and I didn’t realize the last time she rode, was when she dropped her wing and broke her collar bone and a couple of ribs. It was made apparent to me, after about the first 5 twisties, and the fact I had to pull over to remove her nails from my arm. Made no difference to the trip. We were at the end, so I let them go. Mostly Harleys and Crotch rockets, and two lady drivers. The Crotch rockets wanted to outdo the Harleys, the girls wanted to prove they could run with the guys, and everyone was determined to show up my Wing. The first half of the trip was a beautiful run from Eugene, to the coast….nothing but state forest and loads of twisties. We caught up with them at the Casino in Florence, when we took an hour for lunch. Then we brought back for the return route. Somehow, I got in the lead, and the Harleys and crotch rockets couldn’t have that. To my surprise, about half the group stayed behind me, including the girl with the girl with the blue Harley (see picture). Later, at the DAIRY QUEEN, they all said they were uncomfortable with the first half of the trip and were more than happy to follow the only apparent sane one in the group. Did make some new friends and had a great time. Weather was perfect.

Beautiful country out here and I am looking forward to many great rides……at my own pace. The countryside looks much better when you see more than a blur.

I use to ride each September with a SabMag group that generally
started their ride in Baker City, OR. I was always the only Wing rider.
There were usually few Sabres and a few Magnas, after all it
was a SabMag club ride. The rest were Beemers, V-Twins of
various sorts and at least a couple Zoomers....Splats were not allowed.

The routes and stops were all planned out and the length of the route
was easily traversed in a day. The problem was most of the riders seemed
to be hell bent on making it a half a days ride. I was the one who always
was the last to arrive at the stops. Sort of like when I had to run
wind-sprints at High School baseball practice. Always last. However,
I got to see the elk through the trees as well as all the other sites
along the way. Hare, Tortoise? I think I was the winner.

Anyway, they were all a good bunch of folks who never told any Goldwing
jokes, (at least within my ear-shot). :action:

Wish I could have made it. Momma was pretty sick and I stayed close to home that weekend. The girl is kaylynn, great gal, a bit crazy at times, LOL, but generally a good rider. She used to ride with a lot of my group until she went Harley, don't see her much anymore. Too bad too, she always has a smile and loves to ride.

Abate is putting on another benefit run starting at Central Valley cycle in Springfield. Sept. 13th and I am going to try and make that one.

Thanks for the pics and the update, glad you slowed a few of them down. More fun to ride sane and enjoy the scenery and leave the racing to the people on the tracks.
