My first gold wing is an 82 gl 1100 interstate, this spring and summer has been spent getting used to it and making it road worthy after a 6 year sit.

Now this winter I will be doing a complete paint job and adding some chrome I picked up from eBay. The hard question is what Color to paint it? The factory paint was BLACK, I was thinking of doing a metallic black for the repaint but I don’t know.Seems the more i look the more confussed i get.

Is it going to be worth more using factory colors or with a semi custom color?

What color would you paint it? I want your Ideas PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you have a pix of your bike feel free to show me how your bike looks.

My bike 82 gl1100 I, jardein turndown exhaust, saddle bags and trunk, chrome engine guards and bag guards, chrome engine covers and windshield trimso this will kinda give you an idea of my bike

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SITES GOING

THANKS TO ALL:clapper:

Hey SLE.... Good luck on your ride.... I don't knowwhat anoriginal paint or custom paint will do for the value of your bike , but, picking out the color is fun... I did my 82 about 5 years or so ago and did a black base, Prismatic mid coat (Changing color flake depending on angle and brightness), then a clear over the top.. My wife said it was my feminine side coming out ...heheheeeee I aint that good uploading or modifying pics and the ones I have are too big to upload... I will try to see if I can upload it in the gallery under nicks bike.... You should go to the gallery and take a look in there...there's some nice pics there... I personally prefered to make it something unique andblend in ....

Enjoy your ride

No Question here....

82 gl1100's are most happy with the fine Wineberry Red coat!

The moderately fast, but classiest of colors!

Enjoy a great bike!

Your bike is no longer under warranty so you can do any color you want to. I do not think color will make the bike any more valueable . I saw an 81 gl1100i with original wineberry color and pinstripeing go for $1500 last week. In the eye of the beholder. Litfuse

It just depends on the buyer. If someone is looking for an original looking bike a repaint is not valuble no matter what color you chose. Choose a color that makes you happy and don't worry about the resale.

I'm going to get my 81 Interstate painted this winter. Okay, I plan to get it painted.

So far, I narrowed the colors down to dark blue, burgundy, and champagne. Maybe white or bright yellow.

Hey, I have an idea. I'll paint it white and put fake wood on the sides of the saddlebags so it matches my Roadmonster.
