Passenger's heated seat-2012

The passenger's seat on my 2012 isn't working, and the dealer told me that according to Mother Honda this is usually caused by aftermarket back rest pinching the seat. I find this hard to believe, but they did agree to replace the seat. Anyone else had a similar experience? BTW, the grips and front seat work fine.

If the grip heaters are working, then it does seem likely your saddle is the culprit. It isn't easy to cut those wires in the seat, they are protected by a hard plastic shield. Have you checked the wires yourself?
Did you get a look at the wires Frank? The only way the wires can get damaged from a Utopia or similar backrest is by incorrectly fitting it. The heater wires are very well shielded and it takes a heavy hand with a knife to make a mess of it.
My understanding is the grips and seat are "together". One quits, the other is in op also?
1st time I ever heard an external backrest would pinch the wires!
I have not personally checked the wiring. They checked the resistors or whatever components it is that control the heaters, and found the back seat faulty. The driver's seat and hand grip heaters both work. The new seat is being shipped and I'll have it installed in about a week.

My backrest is a Showchrome, the type that is held with brackets. I can see how someone could mess up something installing the Utopia or that type.
