I think drknobs and 93wing are correct. Sitting bolt upright does puts pressure on the spine, hips and buttocks. I find I am constantly shifting my legs and backside on long rides. I have been attributing my discomfort to my 25 year old seat, but I think I may need to do some seat/backrest adjusting.
I am not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
