OK, so Samson is apart at the moment waiting on other parts so I though I would share my ideas on the starter clutch problems.
I should have got pics before I had every thing cleaned up but hindsight is 20/20.
Working end of the starter clutch , as you can see, the spot the rollers run is pretty worn. I had this ware turned at a local machine shop off of the flywheel, the ware was much worse. If you look at the back side of the starter clutch you can see an oil grove, this was completely plugged up with crud. There are also 3 oil passages that run to the outside of the starter clutch and these where completely clogged as well. No wounder this starter clutch was failing.
This would explain why MMO and SeaFoam help the starter clutch issues but being able to slowly work through this crud and open the oil passages back up.
Hope this helps as I try not to blow to much out the back pipe
