well said.... premium fuel is for engines which need that octane (like my Harley)... having said all that NOT ALL GAS IS EQUAL... and gas changes based on the season ("lighter" in winter-heavier in summer). When lived in Portland Orgon ONLY standard/amoco regular would not ping in my dodge truck and texaco was the worst.
different gas companys do formulate their gas differently.
